Arrangement av BO - Billedkunstnerne i OsloBO gleder seg over å ønske velkommen til utstillinger Andrea Galiazzo og Cecilia Jiménez Ojedaav i sommer
Fabuleringer rundt livets flyktighet blir nærliggende i møte mellom Andrea Galiazzo og Cecilia Jiménez Ojedas respektive soloutstillinger som åpner parallelt på BO.
Fra hvert sitt materielle og tematiske utgangspunkt, har de to kunstnerne skapt en ny kropp av arbeider, som både i form og innhold utforsker temporalitet på mikro- og makroplan.

I utstillingen Twelve Months tar Andrea Galiazzo publikum gjennom et år av livet. Tolv tekstilverk representerer hver sin måned – fra mars til februar. I et tilsvarende antall korte videoverk, blir både tekstilene og betrakteren innlemmet i kunstnerens hverdag. Vi triller barnevogn gjennom Oslos gater, er til stede i lystige lag, går i demonstrasjonstog og bevitner sorgprosesser. Det nære og hverdagslige flettes sammen med kunstnerens blikk på verden. Hva er poenget med denne skjøre, og tidvis så meningsløse, tilværelsen? I sammensuriet av små og store øyeblikk trekker Galiazzo opp et nett av forbindelser som speiler eksistensens kompleksitet i dragkamper mellom mening og avmakt.
En eldre spansk ordbok fra egen barndom står i sentrum for Cecilia Jiménez Ojedas utstilling Ordbok I. Gjennom et utvalg vegghengte og skulpturelt integrerte reproduksjoner av bokens illustrasjoner inviterer kunstneren til refleksjon rundt det autofiktive – hvordan ens biografi, eller fortid, kan fungere både som ressurs og hemsko. Det private kan være besnærende, men likefullt begrensende og komme i veien for verkets væren på egne premisser. Med ordboken som innfallsvinkel dras betrakteren inn i et kontrastfylt landskap hvor illustrasjonens deskriptive funksjon forstyrres av kunstnernes intime forhold til kilden.
Andrea Galiazzo (f. 1983) bor og arbeider i Oslo. Han er utdannet ved IUAV i Venezia, HISK i Ghent og KHiO. Hans arbeider har blitt presentert i soloutstilling ved Trondheim kunstforening, og som duo, med Marthe Ramm Fortun, ved Huset for Kunst & Design i Holstebro. Utover dette har ha deltatt i gruppeutstillinger ved Interkulturelt museum, Femtenesse, Høstutstillingen på Kunstnernes hus, Tegnetriennalen 2019, S.M.A.K. i Ghent og ved Kristiansand kunsthall. I 2020 mottok Galiazzo Norske kunsthåndverkeres studentpris. Galiazzos verker vil presenteres i en soloutstilling på KRAFT i Bergen i 2025.
Cecilia Jiménez Ojeda (f. 1982) er billedkunstner bosatt i Oslo og har en master fra Kunstakademiet i Oslo. Arbeidene hennes er blant annet vist på Kunstnernes Hus, Galleri F15, Destiny's, Standard (Oslo), QB Gallery og Museet for samtidskunst. Hun er innkjøpt av KORO, Oslo kommunes kunstsamling og Storebrand. Hennes neste separatutstilling er på Standard (Oslo) i august 2024.
Andrea Galiazzo og Cecilia Jimenez Ojedas utstillinger har blitt realisert med støtte fra Kulturrådet, Kulturetaten ved Oslo kommune og Vederlagsfondet. Galiazzos «Twelve Months» har blitt fasilitert med assistanse fra TextielLab, TextielMuseum, Tilburg NL, som har stått for produksjonen av de utstilte tekstilverkene.

BO is excited to welcome its audience to two new exhibitions opening this Thursday.
Fabulations on the fleetingness of life is apparent in the crossing of Andrea Galiazzo and Cecilia Jiménez Ojeda’s respective solo presentations opening in parallel at BO. Departing from different techniques and materials, the two artists have created each their new body of work, that formally and thematically explore temporality on a small and larger scale.
In the exhibition Twelve Months, Andrea Galiazzo takes the audience through a year of life. Twelve textile works represents the months of the roman calendar – from March to February. In an equal amount of short video works, both the textiles and the viewer become part of the artist’s everyday life. We are taken on walks with a stroller through the streets of Oslo, attend dinner parties, manifest for worker’s rights, protest the genocide in Gaza, and witness moments of grief. The mundane and personal is entwined with the artist’s world perception. What is the meaning of this fragile, and from time to time pointless, existence? In this entanglement of minor and major moments, Galiazzo draws up a web of connections that mirror the complexity of being in the tug of war between meaning and impotence.
An older, Spanish dictionary from her own childhood is pivoting Cecilia Jiménez Ojeda’s exhibition Dictionary I. Through a selection of wall hanged, and sculpturally integrated reproductions of the illustrations from the dictionary, the artist invites to an auto fictive reflection on how one’s biography, or past, just as much a resource, can be a hindrance. Penetrating experiences of privacy can be captivating, but just as much limiting and become an obstacle for the existence of the works on their own terms. With the dictionary as the point of entry, the viewer is introduced to a contrasting landscape where the descriptive function of the illustrations is disturbed by the artist's intimate connection to the source.
Andrea Galiazzo (b. 1983) lives and works in Oslo. He is educated at IUAV University in Venice, HISK Higher Institute of Fine Arts in Ghent, and KHiO Oslo National Academy of the Arts. His works have been presented in a solo exhibition in Trondhjem Kunstforening, and a duo exhibition, with Marthe Ramm Fortun, at Huset for Kunst & Design, Holstebro. Additionally, Galiazzo's works have been displayed at group exhibitions at Interkulturelt museum, Oslo, Femtensesse, Oslo, The Autumn Exhibition at Kunstnernes Hus, Oslo, The Drawing Triennial 2019, S.M.A.K. in Ghent, and at Kristiansand Kunsthall. In 2020, Galiazzo was honored with The Norwegian Association of Art and Crafts’ Student Prize. In 2025 his works will be presented in a solo exhibition at KRAFT in Bergen.
Cecilia Jiménez Ojeda (f. 1982) is an artist with a MFA from KHiO, The National Academy of the Arts in Oslo. Her works have been exhibited at Kunstnernes hus, Galleri F15, Destiny's, Standard (Oslo), QB Gallery and The National Museum of Contemporary Art. Jiménez Ojeda's works have been acquired by KORO, Oslo Municipality, and Storebrand. Her next solo exhibition will be presented at Standard (Oslo) in the fall of 2024.
