Izzy McEvoy presents a constellation of new film, and sculptural works that explore the roles of 3 women, a shamanic counsellor, an end-of-life doula, a horse assisted therapist, and a herd of horses.
Each woman and horse navigate paths to the unconscious toward healing and death — egoic and mortal. They facilitate a transformation for others, circumventing the mainstream medical networks of therapy and care.
The metaphysical and spiritual beliefs and experiences of each woman are the foundation of their practice. Nett, a humanist, tends to the dying in her work as a doula with a conviction that life is no more than a material reality, while Ciara asks us to explore other worlds guided by spirits, animals and plant medicine. Similarly, Dawn and the herd work to expand our fields of consciousness and understanding of psychotherapeutic models, calling on the horses’ higher power to help us heal.
