Scott Hamilton debuterte på jazzscenen i 70-årene og ble ansett som en av de få talentfulle musikerne som førte den klassiske jazz tenor stilen til pionerer som Ben Webster, Coleman Hawkins, Zoot Sims og Don Byas.

Etterhvert som han turnerte rundt i verden falt han for skandinavia og spesielt Sverige hvor han til tider har vært en del av jazzscenen.

Hamiltons eminente stil oppsumeres av tenor kollega Dave Gelly: “Following a Scott Hamilton solo is like listening to a great conversationalist in full flow.
