Trumps Second Year as U.S. President

Donald Trump’s job approval rating (average on Realclearpolitics.com) has been relatively stable since he became president in January 2017, and it even increased slightly during the first six months of 2018. This lecture will examine reasons for this and assess whether President Trump can claim credit for the positive signs in the American economy. We will also discuss President Trump’s relationship with other western leaders, focusing specifically on tariffs and the Iran deal, and explore the twists and turns of Trump’s diplomatic engagement with North Korea. Finally, the lecture will assess the significance of the November 2018 congressional elections and the investigation by Robert Mueller on possible collusion between Russia and the Trump campaign in 2016. 

The lecture is in English, but will be relevant not only to English teachers, but also to teachers of history and the social sciences.
