Oslo World & NextStopDamascus: Dansekollektivet

  • Kulturhuset Youngs gate 6, 0181 Oslo, Norway (map)

The Norway-based Dance Collective Dansekollektivet will host a special edition of their recurring event Wine&Waltz. They collaborate with Oslo World for the first time, and for Oslo World & Station Beirut: NextStopDamascus they will present four dance pieces, related to the tags #freedomtomove and #freedomtoexpress

• XXX
An exploration of how step dance, beatbox and rap can be used together. The big common denominator is the grooving rhythm, expressed in dance, voice and text.

Made by/featuring: Janne Eraker, Julian Sommerfelt and Taro Vestøl Cooper.

• Rupi
The performance is based on various texts and poems about self-image and self-acceptance, and inspired by "generation achievement". The two dancers explore the contrasts between resistance and freedom, in both movement and expression.

Made by/featuring: Andrea Winsnes and Pailin Berg.

• Din Varme (eng: Your warmth)
A solo performance based on a previous piece titled «Wasting Away», exploring the human need for touch. «A longing for something that never existed. A longing to be held. A longing to feel at home. I fade away without your presence. But were you ever there at all?

Made by/featuring: Carl Joseph Aquilizan.

• Excerpts from ONLY FOREVER
A hybrid performance project built from an interdisciplinary, collective structure by harnessing a range of (un)orthodox strategies including emergent pattern formation and self-organisation, addressing the ambiguity of authorship.
