Reeko | Roland Lifjell | G-Ha & Olanskii - Jaeger/Sunkissed/Oslo | RL.O.O.C

A musical institution nestled in the heart of Oslo, Filter Musikk has long been a landmark for DJs and music enthusiasts in the Norwegian capital. From behind the counter, proprietor and Oslo DJ stalwart Roland Lifjell has cultivated a dedicated fan base around the shop with some of Oslo’s most prominent DJs and producers relying on the Filter Musikk for everything in electronic music, from records to equipment. Filter Musikk has garnered a cult status in the city and it’s about time that it extends its influence from beyond its doors. 

After the briefest of discussions between G-Ha & Olanskii, Jæger resident Jokke and Roland Lifjell, it was decided that Jæger will provide a platform for Filter Musikk this summer, showcasing the shop, it’s sonic aesthetic and the beating heart of it all, Roland Lifjell. Every Filter Musikk event sees Roland pair up an international guest with some local talent and this week’s Filter Musikk guest esteemed guest is Reeko, who will be joining Jokke in our basement while Frædag’s G-Ha & Olanskii and R.L.O.O.C hold position in our courtyard. 

Reeko is a dj who has rapidly attained the recognition other artists have taken a long time to gain. In his case it’s not been a matter of chance or coincidence, but the result of his innate and incredible capacity to be prolific, alongside his obsession for perfection. He marks is his birth as a dj about 1997, but it wasn’t until his first release in 2002 under the Swedish label Emergence that he became known professionally.

There is no need to name all the aliases that Juan Rico has used to release the diverse artistic sensations which flow from him, but these are characteristic which define his personality and are a part of REEKO himself. Producing and performing under different names allows him to concentrate fully on each individual event by devoting himself completely to an idea or style to which he is totally faithful, putting aside for a moment sounds and influences that don’t belong in the particular character which he is mutating into at the time.

Under the name of REEKO he has released huge techno productions which have charted and been played by the best djs in the world, right from the first tracks and EPs for labels as reputable as Theory, Main out, Integrale Muzique, Deafmosaic, Inceptive, Rxxistance, Trece Records, Symbolism, Planet Rhythm, Warm up , Palicavonzvreca or PoleGroup. 

Roland Lifjell is a DJ veteran in Oslo, whose DJ sets are precise, controlled expressions of the dance floor. Laying the groundwork for his sound in the booth is his love for all things synthesiser and while Techno remains the purview of his DJ sets, his 20-odd years in the booth offers a broad swathe of sound from this very dynamic genre. Always selective about the context, Lifjell prefers a reserved playing schedule, and he’s played Tresor, OHM, Dagslys and the Midnight Sun Festival in recent memory, to name but a few.
